What if Jesus never intended to found Christianity?
In Jesus Uncensored, psychologist, teacher, and spiritual writer Bernard Starr presents a provocative exploration of Jesus’ Jewish identity and its profound implications for understanding both Judaism and Christianity.
Drawing on close readings of biblical texts and historical sources, Starr argues that Jesus remained a devoted practicing Jew throughout his life—committed to the synagogue, the Torah, and the Jewish community. He also reveals that Paul, often viewed as the founder of Christianity, never abandoned his Jewish identity nor set out to create a new religion.
The book explores how centuries of art and interpretation gradually transformed Jesus and his followers from first-century Jews into European Christian figures. Starr also examines the origins of the enduring accusation that “the Jews killed Jesus,” offering a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on one of history’s most damaging religious claims.
Bold, engaging, and deeply researched, Jesus Uncensored challenges long-held assumptions while inviting readers to rethink the historical Jesus—and to imagine a future of greater understanding between Jews and Christians.
