1889 revised second edition, The Lutheran Book Store (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), 6 1/4 x 8 5/8 inches tall embossed black cloth hardcover, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, brown endpapers, 317 pp. Slight soiling and moderate rubbing and edgewear to covers, with slight bumping to tips and fraying to spine caps. Slight soiling and abrasions to front and rear endpapers, with likely nineteenth century Pennsylvania prior owner name in pencil to top margin of front free-endpaper. Contemporary prior owner name in green ink to top margin of front endpaper. Two quarter-inch closed edge tears to fore edge of title page. Pencil notations, marginalia and creased page tips to a handful of pages in the first third of the book. Otherwise, apart from moderate age toning, a good to very good copy of this scarce Lutheran family prayer book. OCLC has no listing. ~AA~ [2.0P] An American Lutheran prayer book designed for a family's home prayer service, written by Rev. Emanuel Greenwald (1811-1885), a pastor in Ohio and Pennsylvania and leader in early Lutheran synods in both states.
