After Halloween one year, my 2-year-old son developed a sudden fear of monsters and the dark. Bedtimes became a challenge as he would wake up crying, saying, “Monsters! I’m scared…” My husband and I tried to comfort him and explain who Jesus Christ is but at such a young age, he found it hard to understand. That’s when the idea for this book was born.

Jesus My Hero is a tool for parents and children alike, designed to help young readers manage their emotions by leaning on the Promises of God. From fear to loneliness, from feelings of inadequacy to navigating everyday challenges like school, this book introduces children to the reassuring presence of Jesus in their lives.

The structure of the book is simple yet powerful: a child expresses how they’re feeling and then Jesus responds—His words printed in orange to distinguish them from the child’s emotions. This choice highlights the comforting, loving embrace of His guidance and truth, creating a clear visual and emotional connection for readers.

Each response from Jesus is paired with a scripture to help bring the Promises of God’s Word to life. These passages are reminders that the Bible isn’t just a historical book; it’s a living, breathing source of hope and encouragement that children can turn to daily.

One of the most special features of Jesus My Hero is its diversity. The book features a wide range of characters, ensuring that every child can see themselves reflected in its pages. Representation matters and this book seeks to affirm every child’s uniqueness as part of God’s beautiful creation.

Ultimately, Jesus My Hero is more than a bedtime book. It’s a resource for nurturing faith, building confidence and reminding children that Jesus is always there for them. He truly is the ultimate superhero—the One who gave His life and rose again to save us all.

I hope this book becomes a treasured part of your family’s journey, just as creating it has been a blessing in mine!
