Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Joan Gale Thomas (illustrator). This offering is a vintage copy of If Jesus Came to My House written and illustrated by Joan Gale Thomas. The book was published by Lothrop - Lee & Shepard in 1951 - or so - and appears to be an American First Edition though a Foreword says that it sold 19 editions in England prior to being published in America. The book is NOT an ex-library copy - and both the book and the dust jacket are in very good condition. It is 6 5/8" by 8 1/4" and has about 20 pages with three-color illustrations throughout and a story in verse. It's a nicely done book - still in great shape. (There are a couple black magic marker marks at the top of the front loose end page where a name and address of a previous owner have been crossed out. "Children have always liked stories with morals - and parents have always liked books with warmth and tenderness for their children. Perhaps it is this tenderness that is felt between the lines of the simple little verses with the innocent artlessness of the illustrations that gives the book its rare and instant appeal." Hardcover. Condition: Fair. A J mowbray and Co, UK. This book is a small thin hardback with red cloth to spine. 'If Jesus Came To My House' by Joan Gale Thomas. Buff coloured boards decorated with charming black and orange/red illustration of a house. Contents contain lovely black and orange illustrations. Circa early 1940's. It is not easy to find the history of this small, fragile book - the earliest ones I have seen are around 1950. This one however, although undated does have a gift inscription of 1944 on rear of front board of book. Some staining to board especially on the back. Red binding to spine very good. Original sewn inner binding coming loose but intact. Overall a charming copy of a charming book. Not exlib, packed and sent with care.
