Vintage borderless reference photograph from the 1939 film, showing Tyrone Power on the set. PIX Publishing stamp crediting photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt on the verso, as well as a Westport Public Library stamp. Loosely based on the life of famed outlaws Frank and Jesse James, and basis for the 1959 remake directed by Nicholas Ray. German-born photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt was one of the original staff photographers of "Life" magazine after it was purchased by "Time" founder Henry Luce in 1936. He published nearly 2500 photo stories for the magazine, with 90 of his images used for the magazine's covers, but is perhaps best remembered today for the iconic "V-J Day in Times Square" photograph. From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969. Shot on location in and around Pineville, Missouri. 8 x 10 inches, archivally matted in a 11 x 14 inch 8-ply white mat. About Near Fine. Seller Inventory # 162961
