Print on Demand. This book is a thorough, insightful, and illuminating biography that tells the life story of James Hall Brookes, one of the most important US religious figures of the late 19th century. The author analyzed diaries, letters, and other documents of a personal nature to sketch out young Brookes' rough childhood, his rise from poverty to ministry, and his professional accomplishments. The text offers readers an intimate look at Brookes devotion and religious experiences through his own words, contrasting his youthful battles with doubt to the strong, fervent minister he became. His unwavering faith, though tested early and often, led him to become a nationally-renowned pastor, author, editor, and Bible scholar who helped to shape the American Christian premillennialist movement. From his humble beginnings to his pivotal role in shaping religious thought, this book offers a well-documented account of an uncommon man, accessible to those new to the subject and scholars alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

That the facts of his life should be preserved for all time, in some such form, was patent. And as no one older and abler stepped forward to do the work, the writer undertook it, with natural hesitancy; yet gladly as a labor of love.
