This is an educational fiction book. It is about Jacob the Turtle, who seeks help from the wise old owl. His two best friends, Grasshopper Trevor and Ladybug Tara, accompany him. After finding the wise old owl they decide to have an adventure. Going over the Blue Ridge Mountains, they arrive at Virginia Beach. Then, as stowaways on a Navy ship, they make it to Ireland. They tag along on a fishing boat to England. A plane takes them to St. Louis, then a train back to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The three friends learn to depend on each other and realize what they themselves are capable of. Along the way they meet and help others in need.
