Quarter bound in brown cloth, tan coloured paper sides, hardback book, with gilt titles in three black blocked boxes, positioned nicely on the spine. Comes with nice brown coloured box, slipcase. This wonderful book is in first class condition, looks like the book has hardly been used or read. Normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. 498 pages all intact, all pages, text and illustrations are in excellent, clean, readable order. John Caldigate was first published in serial form in Blackwood's Magazine from April 1878 to June 1879. It was first published in book form by Chapman & Hall in May 1879. This edition follows the serial text with minor emendations. Set in Monotype Bell by Speedspools, Edinburgh. Printed and Bound by in Great Britain at The Bath Press, Avon.
