An illustrated exploration of Rodrigo Melo’s Japanese-style tattoo art through studio photography, flash, and works in progress.
This visually rich book presents more than 150 detailed photographs of Melo’s work, including bodysuits, back pieces, rib pieces, and sleeves.
Traditional motifs such as peonies, koi, tigers, dragons, and figures from Buddhist mythology are rendered with authenticity, while incorporating modern techniques and stylistic elements.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Extensive studio photography showcasing completed tattoo work
- Hundreds of images of original flash paintings
- Step-by-step progress shots, including a full bodysuit in development
- Insights into evolving aesthetics within Japanese-style tattooing
The work combines respect for traditional imagery with contemporary approaches, including the use of bold contrast techniques.
An inspiring volume for tattoo enthusiasts, artists, and anyone interested in tattoo culture and design.
