Toothpaste Advertising Board Game on stiff card, printed in blue, produced for D. & W. Gibbs Ltd, Wapping, London. NO date shown but c.1947. Consists of a large folded card, measuring 35.5 x 23 cm (14" x 9") unopened & 35.5 x 46 cm (14" x 18") opened. Strung on the fore edge with a blue string - so it could hang as a picture. Covers have a few marks and are generally Good Plus to VG. The front cover has a former owners' name and address in faded ink on the front cover. The rear cover has the printed Rules. Internally printed in bright colour game graphics. A variant of Snakes and Ladders, this one of many advertising products produced just after WWII by the London toothpaste manufacturers D. & W. Gibbs, and used to advertise their product "Protect your ivory castles with Gibbs Dentrifice" and promote dental hygiene. The object of the game is to arrive safely at the Land of Health and Happiness, avoiding such obstacles as a giant named Decay!
