4-1/4" x 6-1/4", lxiv + 539pp with numerous folding maps tipped in. Printed on acidic paper and bound in signatures in Baedeker's signature sturdy red buckram cloth covered flexible card stock cover with blind embossed lines. "Baedeker's Northern Italy." imprinted in gilt foil on front cover and spine. Moderate shelf wear, soiling, edge, edge wear, corner bumping to cover; this Baedeker appears to have made the tour, at least once. Marbling which once decorated the edges all around is almost completely faded / discolored with age. End of green bookmark ribbon is worn to a nub that barely extrudes from book block. Binding remains square and tight. The front free end paper (bearing the stamp of S.H. Lazarus, Second Hand Bookseller, in London) has come loose but remains tucked in. Some damage / chipping to the bottom of the half title page, facing. "Alte Auflage" stamped in blue on title page. A word, "Zucch", is written in black ink on the back of the last map in the book, facing the rear free end paper. Otherwise pages are tanned commensurate with age, but clean and unmarked.
