Print on Demand. This book compellingly argues the feasibility of a project to cut through the Isthmus of Suez and directly connect the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The author contends that such a channel would dramatically reduce travel times for ships between Europe and India and the Far East, with enormous geopolitical and economic implications. The author gathers the latest scientific evidence and data to address the objections raised by detractors, and assembles a team of engineers to study and plan the project. This book will appeal to readers interested in the history of transportation, international relations, and the impact of major infrastructure projects on global trade and politics. The author's passion for the subject and his persuasive style accentuate the significance of this undertaking and its potential to transform the world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

M M. Linant Bey and Mougel Bey, engineers, who have been engaged, the one for the last twenty, the other for the last thirty years, in the construction of important hydraulic works in Egypt, were appointed by the Viceroy to accompany me in an exploring expedition to the Isthmus of Suez, and to complete, by a fresh examination of the ground, the investigations they had already made.
