The Islamic Marriage Guide - According to the Life of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]
All praise is due to Allah Ta'ala, who created mankind and established marriage as a means of bringing two people together in a bond of love, mercy and companionship. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam provided Muslims with guidance on marriage and family life and demonstrated through his Sunnah how spouses should conduct themselves with kindness, responsibility and respect.
The Islamic Marriage Guide presents guidance on marriage according to the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. It addresses important aspects of marriage and highlights the importance of following the Sunnah while avoiding customs and practices that conflict with Islamic teachings.
Marriage is an important institution in Islam, yet many unnecessary customs and practices have become part of marriage ceremonies. Excessive spending, inappropriate customs and actions that are contrary to Islamic values can take away from the simplicity and blessings of Nikah. This book encourages Muslims to understand the Islamic approach to marriage and to seek simplicity, modesty and obedience to Allah Ta'ala.
Key Topics Covered
Importance and Benefits of Marriage:
The book explains the importance of marriage, its benefits, the harms associated with remaining unmarried, and the Islamic ruling regarding marriage.
Choosing a Marriage Partner:
Guidance is provided on the basis for choosing a suitable partner and the considerations involved when viewing a prospective bride.
Simplicity in Nikah:
The book emphasizes simplicity in marriage and presents exemplary marriages as an important source of guidance and reflection.
Walimah and Marriage Customs:
It discusses the Walimah and examines different customs that have become associated with marriage, including Christian customs, Hindu customs, Western and modern customs, and other practices that may be found in marriage ceremonies.
Actions After Marriage:
The book provides guidance concerning conduct after marriage and highlights the importance of maintaining Islamic values within married life.
Prohibited Actions:
Important actions and practices that are prohibited or contrary to Islamic teachings are discussed so that Muslims can recognize and avoid them.
Etiquettes of Husband and Wife:
The book explains the etiquettes of spouses and gives specific guidance regarding the responsibilities and conduct of husbands and wives. It emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, proper conduct and fulfilling the responsibilities of married life.
The book begins with an introduction to Islamic marriage and covers the importance and benefits of marriage, the ruling of marriage, hastening marriage, choosing a partner, viewing a prospective bride, simplicity in Nikah and exemplary marriages. It then discusses Walimah, customs and various practices found in marriage ceremonies, followed by actions after marriage, prohibited actions and the etiquettes of spouses, husbands and wives.
The Islamic Marriage Guide is a practical resource for Muslims seeking to understand marriage through the guidance of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. It encourages a return to the principles of Sunnah, simplicity, modesty and proper Islamic conduct, helping readers understand how marriage can be approached in accordance with Islamic teachings rather than unnecessary or inappropriate customs.
