The son of Redfield Proctor, a U. S. politician of the Republican Party and the 37th governor of Vermont. Proctor Jr was born in Proctor, a village named after his family in the town of Cavendish in Windsor County, Vermont.With his bookplate to the front pastedowns containing the Vermont governor motto 'Freedom and Unity'. Uniformly bound in the publisher's green cloth. Externally, smart. With rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Fading to the spine labels. Damp stains to the boards, heaviest instances to 'Mahomet II', 'Traveller', 'Alhambra' and 'Astoria'. Bookplate of Redfield Proctor to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with tidemarks affecting the endpapers of 'Mahomet II'. Good.
