The Easter Rising of 1916 was the foundation event of modern Ireland. The event itself and the political fallout combined to transform the country.
This bestselling book recreates the actual course of events during this tumultuous week. It brings the reader closer to the events of the rising than has previously been possible and provides an exceptional account of a city at war.
Based on contemporary witnesses, memoirs and later recollections and beautifully illustrated, with photographs throughout it is one of the most comprehensive and accessible accounts of Easter Week 1916 available.
