361 pages, plus 5 pp of book ads; illustrated with drawings by the author; "To have "an opinion about Ireland," one must begin by getting at the truth; and where is it to be had in the country? Or rather, there are two truths, the Catholic truth and the Protestant truth. The two parties do not see things with the same eyes." .It is the want of the middle class that has rendered the squire so arrogant, and the clerical or political demogogue so powerful." (pp 311-312) Cover corners are worn so that a small bit of board shows; spine top cover cloth is worn through at the extreme top, and spine bottom area cover has one small hole and some minor wear; front cover edge has a little finger nail-sized candel-wax spot; top edge is gilt paint, other two have darkened to a tan color; contents have not darkened much--a rather even off-white throughout; owner's name, address is written in a graceful flourish on the front flyleaf; book binding is sound.
