Bank note engraved invitation to the unveiling of the statue in memory of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut. It features a likeness of Admiral Farragut, and stylized ship equipment and sail reading 'New Orleans, Mobile Bay." The statue resides in Farragut Square still. The invitation is extended by David D. Porter, Admiral; S.C. Rowan, Vice Admiral/ John Rodgers, Rear Admiral; J. L. Worden, Rear Admiral; C.R.P. Rodgers, Rear Admiral; Master W.C. Babcock, Secretary of the Board. Farragut [1801 - 1870] was a lifelong US Navy man, and is especially remembered for the Battle of Mobile Bay in April 1862 and the phrase, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead".
