What will the world look like in 10, 50, or 100 years—and which technologies will actually get us there?
Artificial intelligence is learning to reason and act. Robots are moving beyond factories. Scientists are rewriting DNA, growing tissues, decoding signals from the brain, pursuing fusion energy, developing new materials, and building machines capable of taking humanity farther into space.
But technological history teaches us an important lesson:
Being possible is not the same as changing the world.
Inventions That Will Change the World in the Next 100 Years is an accessible, thought-provoking journey through the technologies that could reshape human civilization—and the scientific, economic, and human obstacles standing in their way.
Written for curious readers rather than specialists, the book takes complex ideas and makes them understandable without reducing them to hype.
Discover the science and possibilities behind:
• Artificial intelligence and autonomous AI agents
• Humanoid robots and intelligent machines
• Quantum computing
• Brain-computer interfaces
• CRISPR and gene editing
• Regenerative medicine and engineered organs
• Longevity and the biology of aging
• Synthetic biology and the future of food
• Fusion, solar energy, batteries, and intelligent power grids
• Advanced materials and 3D manufacturing
• Autonomous vehicles and future transportation
• Carbon removal and climate technologies
• Smart cities and environmental monitoring
• Reusable rockets, lunar settlements, Mars, and the emerging space economy
But this is not simply a catalogue of futuristic inventions.
The book asks the harder questions.
Why do brilliant technologies sometimes fail?
What separates a laboratory breakthrough from a civilization-changing invention?
Which technologies are overhyped—and which are being underestimated?
What happens when AI, robotics, biotechnology, energy, and materials begin accelerating one another?
And what happens to us if these technologies actually succeed?
Along the way, explore failed predictions, surprising bottlenecks, memorable numbers, technological collisions, and the author's reasoned bets about what is—and isn't—likely to define the century ahead.
The final chapters go even further, exploring a future in which intelligence becomes abundant, biology becomes editable, machines perform more human work, longevity changes the shape of life, and society must decide whether everything we can invent is something we should use.
Because the most important invention of the next hundred years may be the one none of us can name yet.
Accessible. Scientific. Skeptical. Fascinating.
If you have ever wondered what the future might actually look like—and why predicting it is so difficult—this book is for you.
