Print on Demand. This book explores the foundational principles of the ancient Hebrew language, as preserved in the Old Testament. The author lays out the structure of the language, beginning with the alphabet, and working through the details of spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Armed with this solid foundation, readers can approach the ancient text and better understand the language in which it was written. Through the study of Hebrew, students can develop a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the Israelites and of the origins of Western civilization. This book positions the study of Hebrew within the scholarly tradition of textual and linguistic study. The author acknowledges the work of previous scholars while introducing different perspectives on the reading of the textual tradition, and offers their own original insights on the structure and principles of the language. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Many valuable hints have been received from Mr. Frederic J. Gurney, by whom great assistance has been received in the work of the Correspondence School of Hebrew. He has also kindly helped in the preparation of manuscript for the printer, and in revising the proof-sheets. For similar service the author is ln debted to Mr. C. E. Crandall, and to Rev. John W. Payne. To the latter credit is also due for his painstaking care in the typograph ical work of the book.
