Boston edition (reprint), 214, [2]; engraved frontispiece, text illustrations throughout; original black cloth over drab pictorial boards; covers darkened, extremities a bit scuffed; later rubber stamp on front pastedown, else a very good, sound copy. At head of title: "Tower's Second Reader." 2 pp. of publisher's advertisements bound in rear as well as printed on back cover. The Boston edition originally appeared in 1856 according to the preface.
