Akerman founded the Numismatic Journal in 1836. This is the first edition of his introduction to the study of coins, with 220 pages, and a generous appendix of 56 pages of an archeological index, as well as lengthy lists of books for sale by John Russell Smith publishers. This small volume is nicely illustrated with numerous drawings of coins, uncoined currency, public currency forgeries, and a price guide to English coins. Bound by W. Bone & Son, of Fleetwood England, this is a Very Good copy in original green textured cloth, gold leaf remains intact on the browned spine. The binding is a bit worn and is very slightly separated from the front cover. Seller Inventory # 092918-3
