Designed for college or high school chemistry students, parents supporting learning at home, and teachers seeking clear, practical worksheets to supplement high school or college-level lessons, this workbook is an essential tool for success in organic chemistry.
Topics include:
- Alkanes, Alkenes, and Alkynes
- Alcohols
- Aldehydes and Ketones
- Carboxylic Acids
- Ethers
- Esters
- Amines
- Amides
- Halogenated Hydrocarbons
- Cyclic Hydrocarbons
For each topic, this workbook includes:
Short Lessons
Each new section starts with a concise lesson explaining the concepts behind organic nomenclature, including clear rules for naming and drawing different classes of organic compounds. Clear step-by-step examples help you learn how to apply IUPAC rules effectively.
Practice: Naming
Following each lesson, you will complete at least 12 targeted questions to practice naming organic molecules, building confidence and accuracy. Full answer keys are provided at the end of the workbook.
Practice: Drawing
After naming, you draw structures of 12 molecules given the names. Answers are found at the end of the workbook.
Self-Checking Practice
Each section also includes a self-checking worksheet where you answer questions to reveal a secret message or the solution to a fun riddle. If the message makes sense, you know your answers are correct! These activities are designed to encourage you to catch and correct your own mistakes independently.
Mixed Practice
Mixed Practice sheets are interspersed throughout the workbook, combining all concepts introduced up to that point, helping you apply naming rules across multiple types of organic compounds.
This well-organized college or high school organic chemistry workbook is designed with a confidence-building approach, guiding students through progressively challenging material. Students gain mastery of one concept before advancing to the next. Answer keys included!
Key Features:
