176 pp. 48 b/w plates plus numerous plans, elevations, and views in the text. This is a clear account from the perspective of a mid-century British writer; Britain and the Continent are the main concern, with somewhat less attention paid to the Americas. Take a look at the list of plates for an idea of the contents. A comprehensive bibliography takes up pp. 164-172.
