Terry J. Housh, Ph.D., FACSM is Director of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory and Co-director of the Center for Youth Fitness and Sports Research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He received a B.A. degree in Physical Education with teaching endorsements in K-12 Physical Education and Health in 1977 from Doan College, an M.P.E. in Exercise Science in 1979, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology in 1984 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Housh taught two years (1984-86) at Portland State University before returning to Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Housh¿s primary research interests are growth and development in young athletes, and muscle function. He has co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed research articles and four college textbooks, as well as more than 150 presentations at annual meetings of professional organizations including The American College of Sports Medicine (ACCM), American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). He was the 1998 recipient of The Outstanding Sport Scientist Award from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Dr. Housh is an Associated Editor for The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and reviews for a number of journals including Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, Journal of Applied Physiology, and Pediatric Exercise Science.
Dona J. Housh, Ph.D., FACSM is a Professor in the Oral Biology Department, College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she teaches Human Physiology to first-year dental students, as well as post-doctoral graduate students in various dental specialties. Dr. Housh received a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Portland State University in 1986, an M.P.E. in Exercise Science in 1988, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology in 1991 from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln.Dr. Housh¿s research interests include muscle function, neuromuscular fatigue, and the hypertrophic responses to resistance training. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in prestigious scholarly journals and presented research presentations at annual meetings of The American College of Sports Medicine and The National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Housh is an Associate Editor of The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and reviews for many other scientific journals including Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and Pediatric Exercise Science.
