In fair condition. Boards show typical wear with light scuffing edges and rounded corners. Loss at base compartment of spine exposing binding. Original label is puckered. Front end papers are very toned and moderately foxed. Previous owner s name in old hand on front fly leaf. Light staining and rippling throughout. Fold out plate in good, working order. Unmarked. Binding intact. Please see photos. Boston imprint. John Ruggles Cotting (1784-1867) was a chemist, geologist, and instructor. He conducted a significant geological survey of Georgia s Burke and Richmond counties in 1836. As the first state Geologist of Georgia, he completed a study in 1839 of the topography, geology, mineral resources and soils in more than two dozen counties.
