From the Author
A concise, readable introduction to amateur radio
The first edition of the book was written a few years agao. Now it has been reprinted and revised. I wrote it to give an easy to understand introduction to amateur radio. I tried to look at what the newcomer would need to know. What all the abbreviations and codes mean; how radio waves travel, and how to make the best of radio propagation; how radio recevers work, and so forth. By explaining these in an understandable fashion the reader would quickly be able to familiarise themselves with the hobby and be able to gain the most from this enjoyable pastime. I was delighted when it was favourably reviewed by the BBC World Service programme "Waveguide".
