THE SUCCESSION WAS INTERRUPTED.
How did the authorized revision of the King James Bible vanish from print?
Many readers of the King James Version may assume the 1611 text represents the final, immutable form of the English Bible. But the historical record reveals a hidden chapter.
In 1870, the Convocation of Canterbury formally authorized a single, official successor to the KJV. Scholars and linguists labored for over a decade under strict, conservative mandates to deliver an updated masterpiece.
The New Testament hit the public in 1881, sparking the greatest, most frantic Bible rush in modern publishing history.
Then, the officially authorized text quietly vanished.
The Church never revoked ecclesiastical approval. The translators never disowned their work. Yet, squeezed by tight commercial printing monopolies in Great Britain and swept aside by proprietary publishing syndicates in America, the historic 1881 Revised Version fell out of ordinary print and into public obscurity.
In The Interrupted Bible, discover the forgotten history of the only formal, Church-authorized update to the King James Version.
This fast-reading booklet exposes the precise commercial patterns, fierce criticisms, and systemic neglect that sidelined the 14-year project that created such a monumental text, restoring an essential link in the classic lineage of the revered King James Bible.
The authorized revision was not rejected. Negligence allowed the text to disappear into obscurity.
Step inside the translation chamber and rediscover the authorized 1881 Anglo-American Revised Version.
