There is practically nothing out there―for pastors, city and state council of church reps, teachers and school officials, retreat centers, and monastics―that answers an evolving need in response to our new situation: a religiously plural society wherein the citizens want to come together on certain occasions and invoke the Divine. †

About the Author: Thomas Ryan, CSP, directs the Paulist North American Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations in Washington, DC. He has authored twelve books, over 100 articles in a wide-variety of periodicals and journals, and writes for Catholic newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. As part of his present ministry he preaches ecumenical parish missions and leads both ecumenical and interfaith retreats.
