Item description from seller

pp. 123. 12mo., measuring 12 x 17 cm. Bound in publisher's original maroon cloth over boards. Light edgewear, slightly faded personal name stamp to the pastedowns, captioned with a neat ink name; Text-block, otherwise, entirely without blemish with firm, sound binding. A scarce offering of an early edition of this title published a mere two years following its first appearance in 1946, and the last printing before being subsequenlty referred to as the "The Little Red Book". Copyright page states 1946 while title page notes date of publication as MCMXLVIII [1948]. Related ephemera laid in, namely a miniature bi-folded pamphlet of meeting schedules for Acoholics Anonymous meetings for "District 1", appearing to refer to a variety of meetings held throughout mainland British Columbia; comprising a list of dates and times, locations, and names and contact details of the organizers. "The material in this little red book is an outgrowth of a series of notes originally prepared for "12 Steps" instruction to A.A. beginners and as a source of ideas for A.A. discussion meetings. Its distribution is founded on a desire to "Carry the Message" in recognition of our return to sane living after alcoholism had made life all but impossible.". …
