A fun, engaging and highly practical read. Filled with tips and advice for careers in international schools.
Based on insights and stories from teachers already enjoying the international adventure - their advice, the tears they've shed, and the highlights they've enjoyed - the book is enchantingly personal.
Written in plain English and filled with easy to follow advice, the book covers:
- What international schooling is and what makes these schools different.
- How to get 'the best' jobs (and how to get promoted).
- The qualifications you'll need and what to look out for in contracts.
- The skills you need to teach internationally (and what Heads ask about at interview).
- Third culture kids and global citizenship (and why they matter).
- Culture and how to survive culture shock.
- Managing uncertainty (for you and your family).
- What to expect, what to avoid, and how best to embrace the international adventure.
- Safeguarding and wellbeing.
Across 400 pages, containing the collected wisdom of hundreds of teachers and school leaders, the book is exceptional value - saving you time, missteps, mishaps, and money.
The move to teaching overseas is one of the biggest, and most exciting, career transitions and life adventures many teachers ever make. This book will make sure you get the most out of the journey. For anyone aspiring to, new to, being recruited into, or currently enjoying international teaching, it is essential reading.
