Simple, innocent scribbles - a means of letting my innermost thoughts find expression. Thus began my foray into the world of writing at an age when I really wasn't even aware that this exposition of my thoughts was in a genre called poetry. And then the oft told excuse called 'Life' got in the way, the inclination to write was significantly attenuated and each thought penned seemed to emerge after great effort. Almost akin to spotting a specimen of a nearly extinct species, my writing became such a rare occurrence that even those closest to me were blissfully unaware of my passion. Indeed there were times of great joy or great sorrow when writing was effortless - words flowing from my consciousness onto my phone (yes - technology has upgraded those scraps of paper from my childhood to electronic notes) - and served as a salve for my soul, an oasis of tranquility if you will. With the passage of time, the lost voice often quietened by noise and chaos has found its proverbial amplitude. These last few years represent a very productive time not only in terms of my writing but also in terms of accepting myself. The collection of poems in this book represent my journey - precious pieces of me and my evolution over many years - and the different sections represent milestones along the roads of my life - conflict, sadness, growth, understanding, joy, love and peace. This book includes "The Metamorphose", a poem featured in "Sounds, Rising From Words" - a virtual concert in New York City by composer Margin Alexander.
