He holds a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), an M.Tech. in Highway and Transportation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. Before joining NIT Patna, he gained extensive research experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and IIT Roorkee and served as a senior research assistant at IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
Dr. Shiv Shankar Kumar is an accomplished academician and researcher specializing in Geotechnical and Earthquake Engineering. He currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna. Dr. Kumar earned his Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, following his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology. His doctoral research focused on the dynamic response of soils under varied seismic excitations using cyclic triaxial tests, and he continues to explore soil-structure interaction, reinforced soil structures, and ground improvement techniques. Dr. Kumar’s extensive publication record includes over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and multiple book chapters with prestigious publishers such as Springer and Elsevier. His work is widely cited in the fields of soil dynamics, liquefaction analysis, and seismic ground response studies.
Dr. Ankit Gupta presently serves as Professor and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Chair Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi. He obtained Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Master of Technology degree in Earthquake Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He holds a bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Kota under Rajasthan University, India. His experience is in pavement maintenance and performance modeling, mechanistic analysis and design of pavements, traffic flow modeling and safety.
