Print on Demand. This book investigates the impact of group stability on project communication and performance. The author examines 50 R&D project groups with varying levels of group longevity and finds that as teams become more stable, they tend to insulate themselves from crucial information sources both within and outside their organizations. This reduction in project communication negatively affects the technical performance and innovativeness of these groups, particularly in the areas of research and development. Ultimately, the book emphasizes the need for considering the impact of group dynamics on project outcomes and suggests the importance of organizational structures and practices in sustaining high performance and innovation within long-tenured teams. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
