Pleasonton served as a general during the American Civil War. This book is a curious piece of American pseudoscience, that though unsupported scientifically, was influential during its time leading to a trend in growing crops under blue panes of glass and is, in part, credited with the early development of contemporary chromotherapy. This second edition has a new, four-page preface by the author, written specially for this edition, published one year after the first edition. An uncommon title, rare in jacket.
