"Influence of Bacteriophage on Bacterium Tumefaciens, and Some Potential Studies of Filtrates" is a foundational scientific study exploring the early 20th-century understanding of viral agents that infect bacteria. Written by pioneering plant pathologists Nellie A. Brown and Agnes J. Quirk, this technical work examines the complex relationship between bacteriophages and the pathogen responsible for crown gall disease in various plant species.

The research details rigorous experimental methods used to isolate and observe the inhibitory effects of filtrates on bacterial growth. By focusing on the biological control of plant diseases, the authors contribute significant data to the fields of microbiology and plant pathology. This volume serves as a critical historical record of agricultural science, reflecting the era's efforts to harness biological agents for crop protection.

This work is essential for researchers interested in the history of virology, the evolution of bacteriophage therapy, and the development of agricultural microbiology. It provides a detailed look at the laboratory practices and scientific inquiry that helped shape modern plant disease management through the study of microbial interactions.
