The "Bochum Association for Mining and Cast Steel Fabrication" was once one of the largest companies in Germany. Large is also his photographic lore with a total of around 125,000 shots. The oldest date back to the 1860s. Today the collection is located in Essen in the Historical Archive Krupp. It is now systematically presented for the first time, with the selection of 263 motifs covering the period until 1926, when the company lost its independence. The majority of the printed images are so far unknown. The photographs report all facets of the Bochum association and last but not least of the people who worked for him. With these recordings and those created outside the factory gates, the past comes alive again. In addition, the volume illuminates the history of industrial photography: what topics interested the photographers? What aesthetic means did they use? With its photographs, the Bochum Association created an exciting narrative that appealed to the worker as well as the director, the general public as well as the professionals - and the contemporaries as well as those living today. This band testifies to this.
