Modern industrial automation increasingly combines traditional PLC engineering with flexible embedded computing, open software, industrial networking, and intelligent edge systems. Industrial PLC Programming with Raspberry Pi explores how Raspberry Pi-based platforms and OpenPLC can be used to learn, prototype, and develop modern control applications using Ladder Logic, IEC 61131-3 concepts, industrial I/O, Modbus communications, process automation, and structured control engineering practices.
This book approaches Raspberry Pi PLC development from an engineering perspective, not as a collection of hobby projects. It emphasizes reliable control architecture, deterministic thinking, interlocks, fault handling, commissioning, maintainability, industrial communication, and safe system design. It also recognizes the practical boundaries between general-purpose computing and dedicated industrial or safety-rated PLC systems, helping readers make informed engineering decisions.
Beginning with PLC architecture and industrial control fundamentals, this practical guide progresses through OpenPLC configuration, industrial digital and analog I/O, Ladder Logic, IEC 61131-3 programming concepts, timers, counters, function blocks, machine sequencing, process control, Modbus RTU and TCP, HMI and SCADA integration, diagnostics, commissioning, and lifecycle maintenance.
Readers progress from core PLC concepts to complete applications involving conveyors, pumps, tank-level management, HVAC, process monitoring, sensors, actuators, alarms, and scalable manufacturing control.
What's Inside:- Raspberry Pi-based PLC architecture and industrial control fundamentals
- OpenPLC installation, configuration, and deployment concepts

Designed for automation engineers, controls engineers, PLC programmers, electrical and electronics engineers, mechatronics professionals, systems integrators, Raspberry Pi developers, engineering students, technical educators, and advanced makers who want to understand PLC programming and industrial control beyond basic tutorials.
PLC programming remains fundamental to manufacturing, process automation, machine control, smart factories, and Industry 4.0. By focusing on enduring control principles alongside modern open automation technologies, this book builds skills that can remain useful as Raspberry Pi hardware, OpenPLC, industrial I/O, and automation platforms continue to evolve.
Move beyond basic GPIO projects and develop a deeper understanding of professional industrial control. Industrial PLC Programming with Raspberry Pi provides a practical path from PLC fundamentals and Ladder Logic to connected, maintainable, real-world automation systems. Build your knowledge of OpenPLC, IEC 61131-3, process automation, Modbus, industrial I/O, and control engineering - and start applying those skills to your next automation project.

Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to California Books, Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
