Print on Demand. This book explores the rise of industrial combinations from the unique perspective of a nation where such combinations have not yet gained popular attention. It provides a thorough theoretical foundation for understanding industrial combination as a representative method of organizing modern economic activity. The author posits that combination often arises from a need to control and regulate market conditions in the face of heightened competition. The book examines key factors in determining an industry's competitiveness, including productive efficiency, risk, bargaining strength, and resourcefulness. It then analyzes the impact of industrial combination on each of these factors. The author argues that combination can enhance competitiveness by enabling firms to leverage external economies, optimize risk management, exert greater bargaining power, and deploy resources strategically. By contextualizing the rise of industrial combinations within the broader historical and economic landscape, this book offers valuable insights into the transformative nature of this organizational form and its implications for industrial organization, market dynamics, and economic growth. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Industrial combination may be defined as a method of economic organization by which a common control, of greater or less completeness, is exercised over a number of firms which either have operated hitherto, or could operate, independently. This control may be either temporary or permanent, for all or only for some purposes. The motive and, while it lasts, the effect of combination is to create over market conditions an influence for greater, more conscious, and more centralized regulation; and this influence varies with the proportion of operating capacity over which control is Obtained.
The broadness of this definition is rendered necessary by the variety of structures which claim the title of industrial combination - a variety due to intensity of organization, to extent of time, to sphere of influence, to circumstances of original formation.
