Print on Demand. This book is an excellent guide to rudimentary physical science principles for young adolescents written by a revered educator from the early twentieth century. The author was a strong advocate for inductive learning in which students independently learn through experimentation rather than through rote memorization. While this book does not present the most advanced understanding of physics, it acts as a useful historical reference text for this specific philosophical approach to teaching science. The author provides a simple-to-follow guidebook for 79 qualitative and 22 quantitative experiments that the young scholar can perform to better understand the physical properties of air and water. These simple experiments and the questions the author poses are designed to allow the learner to conclude the correct natural laws and principles through experimentation. This text and methodology were revolutionary for their time and the approach continues to be influential to this day, making this book a valuable tool to understand the history of science education. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Product Description
The endless source of happiness which this gives is a heritage that Mrs. Shaw has believed will come always to all students who are introduced to the study of the earth by the natural method. The author's educational views were so fully in accord with her own, that she gave him perfect liberty in laying out the work in the Physical Science branches of nature study for pupils from twelve to eighteen years of age. The results reached have been such that many Of the best educator's of Boston and vicin ity have recommended and urged that the course be given a wider field of usefulness.
