INDIA: THE CIVILIZATION OF TOMORROW
What if the future of humanity is being built in one of the oldest civilizations on Earth?
What if India's greatest treasure is not its mountains, rivers, minerals, forests, or fertile lands, but the extraordinary human ocean of intelligence, ambition, creativity, science, entrepreneurship, and resilience that lives within its people?
Sahit Muja brings more than three decades of boots-on-the-ground experience in India into a sweeping exploration of a civilization standing at one of the most consequential turning points in human history.
From the Himalayas to the great plains, from ancient rivers to fertile soils, from forests and biodiversity to minerals, critical materials, agriculture, energy, biotechnology, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, automation and quantum technology, this book looks at India as one interconnected living system—and asks the defining question:
WHAT CAN INDIA BECOME?
Written through the lenses of an entrepreneur, investor, scientist, resource strategist and global business leader, Muja presents an unusually personal and multidisciplinary view of India shaped by decades of travel, research, investment, scientific exploration and collaboration with Indian entrepreneurs, scientists, universities, institutions and business leaders
It examines the challenges that stand between potential and destiny, and searches for technologies capable of transforming them into opportunity.
Pollution can become a resource.
Waste can become feedstock.
Degraded land can become productive again.
Plants can become biological factories.
Biological intelligence can transform agriculture.
Nitrogen-fixing systems can strengthen food security.
Minerals can become the foundations of tomorrow's industries.
Biomass can become renewable energy, fuels and advanced materials.
Biotechnology can create entirely new economic frontiers.
Artificial intelligence can coordinate immense complexity.
Automation can multiply human productivity.
Quantum science can accelerate discovery.
And regenerative technology can help restore the foundations upon which prosperity depends.
At the heart of the book is a radical but practical proposition:
THE PLANET DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SACRIFICED FOR PROSPERITY.
Humanity can build an economy that creates wealth while regenerating land, water, air, biodiversity and natural systems.
India, with its extraordinary human capital, scientific talent, entrepreneurial energy, vast markets, biological wealth, natural resources, sunlight, industrial capacity and global diaspora, may possess a unique opportunity to demonstrate this new civilization at scale.
Muja's vision extends toward a $30 trillion green economy built around food, energy, materials, biotechnology, regenerative agriculture, bioenergy, advanced manufacturing, circular resource systems, intelligent infrastructure and next-generation technologies.
But this book is not ultimately about numbers.
It is about people.
It is about the Indian scientist working late in a laboratory.
The entrepreneur building from nothing.
The farmer cultivating the foundation of civilization.
The student preparing for a future that has not yet arrived.
The engineer solving problems at enormous scale.
The global Indian carrying knowledge and ambition across continents.
And the millions of people whose collective intelligence may become India's greatest strategic resource.
For Muja, India is also personal.
Across decades of journeys, he has encountered extraordinary generosity, hospitality, friendship and human dignity. As an Albanian-American, he feels a particular connection to India through Mother Teresa, whose life created a profound bridge between his heritage and the Indian people.
