An original document: a deed transferring land in Bristol, County of Ontario, State of New York from Timothy Wilder to John Hatch dated October 2, 1815. After the description of the land there is license granted to Wilder by Hatch for Wilder's use of water from a certain "spring thereon" as long as Wilder does not interfere with Hatch's use of water from the same source. A single sheet measuring 16 ¾ in. x 13 ¾ in. It is a printed form, with blank spaces for names, dates, descriptions of the land, etc; in other words, an early Nineteenth Century 'legal blank.' The blanks have been filled in by hand; there is writing on one side only. A watermark reads "B Cox 1813." The document was folded once vertically in the center, then twice horizontally. When opened the left edge is ragged, although no text is affected. There are a few small holes along some of the creases. Age-related spotting. A piece of history, showing how things were done before printers and before typewriters, including the use of the long (or medial or descending) "S" that looks like an "F." Considering its age, it is in excellent condition. If it were a book, I would call it 'Very Good.'. Seller Inventory # ABE-15948782321
