Print on Demand. This book provides a detailed and unique perspective on the American Civil War from the point of view of a Southern woman imprisoned by the Union Army. The author, a prominent resident of pre-war Washington, DC, was detained for her affiliation with the Confederacy and subjected to repeated interrogation and psychological torture. Throughout her narrative, she shares valuable insights into the inner workings of the Lincoln administration in the tumultuous years following the election of 1860 and the secession of Southern states. The author's personal experiences shed light on the motivations and machinations of key political figures, the military strategies of both sides, and the growing rift between the North and South. This book offers an unflinching look at the human toll of the war, particularly on women and civilians, ultimately highlighting the complex social and political dynamics that shaped this defining conflict in American history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
