Synopsis
This title presents essays by Hanna Wroblewska, Jaroslaw Suchan and Sabine Folie. It includes interviews with Pawel Althamer, Katarzyna Kozyra and Robert Kusmirowski. This publication looks at the theatricality inherent in the performance and installation work of this group of Polish artists, who tend to disregard the differences between separate artistic disciplines and between art and life itself. Based around Tadeusz Kantor's influential anti-illusionistic theatre, this exhibition posits Kantor as a "father figure" to a generation of artists and directors. It is published to accompany the exhibition The Impossible Theatre at Kunsthalle Wien; National Gallery of Art, Warschau; and National Museum, Krakau.
