"Sources' (of photographs); Introduction by Quentin Bell, 43 pages; 'A Note on the Photographs' by Helmut Gernsheim, 3 p.; 201 black-and-white photos; from the dj: "Here is the past century of English life, in 201 lively pilctures and text; not only the great plublic events, but the domestic llife of the people--the rich and the poor, the adventurous, famous, and humble, the Englilsh ejoying themselves and the English at home. Book condition: there is a sprinkling of foxing on the top edge (Paper suface) of the book; the front cover bows up a bit at the open end, contents approach VG; Dj has darkened somewhat on the spine area and the panel perimeters; top and bottom dj edges have moderate wear and tear. This book was first published in Great Britain in 1952.
