Questo libro descrive la progettazione e l'implementazione del software per l'ufficio di controllo di un sistema di tracciamento dei veicoli basato su GPS. Il progetto di un sistema di tracciamento dei veicoli basato su GPS si basa su tre diversi moduli: i moduli GPS (Global Positioning System) per l'acquisizione delle informazioni sulla posizione, il modulo microcontrollore per il coordinamento dei tre moduli e il modulo GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) per la trasmissione delle informazioni sotto forma di sms. I dati acquisiti dal ricevitore GPS sono in formato RMC dello standard NMEA che non solo fornisce la latitudine e la longitudine, ma anche l'ora, la data, il numero di satelliti attivi utilizzati, la velocit� sul terreno e l'angolo di traccia. L'interfaccia software viene utilizzata all'estremit� ricevente (ufficio di controllo) per mostrare la posizione del veicolo su una mappa. A questo scopo vengono utilizzati Wikimapia.org e atlas.mapquest.com.
