A highly desirable mid-century printing of Thomas à Kempis' classic devotional masterpiece, uniquely arranged in rhythmic sentences according to the intent of the original 1441 manuscript. Octavo. Bound in the publisher's original deep blue cloth with exceptionally bright, unrubbed gold gilt lettering stamped cleanly across the spine. The cloth boards are square, crisp, and free from heavy corner bumping. Internal text block is tight, square, and structurally sound. Pages are clean, bright, features a neat vintage Antioch decorative bookplate attache the fron flyleaf, otherwise free of inscriptions, highlighting, or internal markings, showing only light age-toning appropriate for a volume of this era. Retains its increasingly scarce original yellow paper dust jacket. The jacket remains unclipped and largely complete, showing mild edge-wear, light shelf-rubbing, and minor dust smudging to the rear panel, but preserving all graphic and typographic integrity. A highly collectible, shelf-worthy presentation of this timeless spiritual classic. …
