Print on Demand. This book delves into the moral ideas of influential contemporary French thinkers and one notable foreign philosopher. The author traces the transformations in these intellectuals' thoughts, particularly as they relate to religious beliefs and the human condition, from the optimistic fervor of 1848 to the disillusionment that prevailed in 1890. Through an analysis of the works of Renan, Schopenhauer, Dumas, and others, the book explores the complex interplay between philosophy, literature, and personal experiences in shaping moral perspectives. Ultimately, the book sheds light on the evolution of moral thought in a period of profound social and cultural change, offering insights into the enduring questions of human existence and the pursuit of a meaningful life. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

Ce sont là des points que je reprendrai dans mes conclusions, mais que je tenais à indiquer ici, pour justifier le choix des sujets et l'ordre des chapitres.
