The novel follows Yann's adventures as he navigates the treacherous waters of the North Atlantic and tries to make a living catching fish in the harsh Icelandic climate. Along the way, he meets a variety of interesting characters, including other fishermen, sailors, and locals.The novel is known for its vivid descriptions of the Icelandic landscape and the challenges faced by those who make their living from the sea.
