"This very nice item was published in 1938 by Dodd, Mead and Company of New York. It is a first edition with 1938 on the title page. The blue cloth boards are in very good condition with very little rubbing to the edges and very little wear to the corners. There are several modest spots on the front and back but otherwise the cover is very good plus condition. There is some browning to the end papers, both front and back, right along the spine but the end paper maps are overall bright and attractive. The interior is in very plus condition with one exception: the front fly leaf has separated from the title page but is still firmly secured in the binding. Overall, this book is in very good plus condition. This is original text and not a reprint. The book gives a riveting account of "The Saga of the 'Jeannette'". In 1879 an American expedition set out in search of the North Pole but tragedy would grip the expedition in it hands as the Jeannette became trapped and then crushed by the Arctic Ice. 421 pages.".
