FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. 9.75 x 7.5 inches. 110 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper. A very good copy. Signature of Frank Gibson on title page. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs. A pictorial history of the Isles of Scilly through the photographs of four generations of the Gibson family, from John Gibson (1827-1920) to Frank Gibson (1929-2012); being well known for their shipwreck photographs. The section headings include an account of the family, Scillonians, Ships and the Sea, 'A Holiday Trip,' The Flower Industry, Events, War, Sea Birds and Round the Islands. The commentary is by John Arlott (1914-91), well known as a BBC cricket commentator, broadcaster and wine writer for the Guardian, who was a frequent visitor to the islands.
